Fibre Analysis
Precision Fibre Analysis
We provide professional fibre testing services designed to help alpaca breeders better understand the quality, consistency and breeding potential of their animal’s fleece. Alongside regular fibre testing, which provides key measurements such as average fibre diameter and standard deviation, Precision Fibre Analysis, partnering with Art Of Fibre, now offers Genetic Focus Fibre Testing — advanced testing designed to look deeper into fibre variation and provide breeders with more meaningful information for genetic selection and breeding decisions.
Better information. Smarter breeding decisions. More predictable fleece.
Proven Genetics = Stonger Herds
At Precision Fibre Analysis
It is more than just a test - it's a powerful tool for genetic improvement.
Using industry leading OFDA technology, we provide accurate, objective data on your alpacas fleeces to help you make informed breeding decisions and achieve superior results.
Focus On What Matters
We focus on the data that has the greatest impact on fleece quality and breeding outcomes.
Objective. Accurate. Reliable.
More Accurate Results
Removing the guesswork
with scientific measurement across
the entire sample.
Better data. Better decisions
Improve Breeding Outcomes
Better data leads to better
decisions and better fleeces
For the future
Stronger herds. Stronger future.
What Is Genetic Focus Fibre Testing?
Genetic Focus Fibre Testing
Genetic Focus Fibre Testing goes beyond a standard fibre test by focusing on the genetically influenced variation between individual fibres, rather than relying only on average micron and conventional SD. Standard SD can be influenced by both genetics and environmental effects along the fibre, so this service is designed to give breeders a clearer picture of the variation that matters most for breeding decisions.
-
More than average micron – looks deeper into fibre diameter consistency, not simply the average.
-
Focuses on genetic variation – aims to isolate the variation between fibres, reducing the influence of environmental variation along the fibre.
-
Advanced OFDA testing – multiple measurements are taken across the sample to calculate a more meaningful SD Across result.
-
Benchmarking included – results are compared against the SD Across benchmark database, helping show how an animal performs relative to others tested.
-
Built for breeders – provides another tool for identifying animals with greater fibre consistency and making more informed breeding selections.
-
The difference: normal fibre analysis tells you what the fleece measures today; Genetic Focus Fibre Testing is designed to help reveal what you should focus on genetically for the next generation.
